Knowledge sharing is important because our living environment has become so complex that multidisciplinary expertise is often needed to achieve good outcomes. For each greenery project, it is important to select the right tree species and to ensure that the basic conditions are right for allowing them to thrive. This is the only way to enable trees to contribute to the living environment and to ensure that greenery projects are successful and future-proof. Van den Berk Nurseries shares its knowledge with everyone who cares about trees. We do this through our voluminous reference work ‘Van den Berk on Trees’, which is freely accessible online as well. We also give customised advice to clients, preferably at an early stage of a project so that the right choices can be made during development. In addition we organise cycle tours for landscape professionals, looking at subjects relevant to them. For instance we offer the 2-day training course ‘Handling big trees’ and we have established a classroom on our premises for students of the Helicon landscaping programme.
